Day 8 : Humility

“Humility is to take oneself at one’s true worth.” – Sri Aurobindo

HUMILITY

Humility is that quality which does not make you feel superior or inferior in any way. Yet, to remain humble, knowing that there is always something greater than you.

The story of the friendship of Krishna and Sudama, recounted to many children growing up in India, embodies Humility.

Reflection

  • Where in the story do you find the quality of Humility?
  • How are the main characters in the story relevant in today’s day and age?
  • Do I consider Humility as my strength?
  • In what situation do I find myself being Humble? In what relationship do I find myself being Humble?
  • On a scale of 1-10 how do I rate myself as being humble and why?
  • If I were to be honest with myself knowing that I am completely accepted for who I am – what is it that stops me from being Humble?
  • If I were to relax something that blocks me from being Humble, what is it? And what can I relax and let go – offer up to my higher-self for release?
  • What specific behaviour will I adopt, that demonstrates Humility to me and others?

Practice for Today

The gesture of Namaste: folding one’s hands together at the heart in greeting someone, means “The Divine in me bows to the Divine in you”.

Regardless of who you encounter today, ‘senior’ or ‘junior’, greet them with a Namaste, even if mentally, with an attitude of humility.

Invitation to Commitment

I commit to see everyone as unique and special, I commit to not pretend to be more or know more.

What are you ready to commit to and how will you practice the power of Humility today?
